Pregnancy & Beyond Event Series Gears Up for its 10th Year in 2019

MakatiMed’s Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology in partnership with the Department of Pediatrics held its culminating Pregnancy & Beyond session last November 17, 2018. A group of over 120 parents and parents-to-be gathered to learn about the topic offerings on Spotting Red Flags: Developmental Delays, Water Birthing & Relaxation Techniques and First Aid for Babies.

The Pregnancy & Beyond event series promotes awareness on proper management of various health concerns for expectant moms, especially first-time moms, who need all the help and support as they prepare for their new role unto motherhood. Expert speakers in Pregnancy & Beyond educated attendees on good infant-care practices. Attending this series gives pregnant moms the confidence to know they are prepped to do the best they can when their babies arrive.

This 2018, Pregnancy & Beyond focused on a range of topics that covered pre-natal checkups, pregnancy FAQs, proper nutrition for mommy and baby and breastfeeding essentials. The series also covered topics like what to prepare for the “Big Day,” how to be the right birthing partner, water birthing, and relaxation techniques which covered Lamaze and Sayuntis.

Essential Intropartum and Newborn Care (EINC) concerns were also tackled as well as newborn baby care. Newbie moms were encouraged to ask all their breastfeeding questions through the topic on Breastfeeding FAQs.

Challenging concerns like postpartum blues and breastfeeding difficulties were also discussed in the event series to help moms understand that it is part of their pregnancy journey and should these happen, they are secured with the right knowledge and strong professional guidance from the doctors of Makati Medical Center. Immunization pros and cons were also discussed to empower moms and to help them make the right choices to secure their baby’s health.

In 2019, the Pregnancy & Beyond series will celebrate its 10th year of educating moms and moms-to-be on everything they need to know about having a healthy pregnancy and proper nursing care practices for their babies. It will be a continuing effort to guide expectant moms to have a worry-free and most memorable experience as they welcome the love of their life into the world.
