As Cathy Eigenmann gave moms onstage a pop quiz about their parenting style at Expo Mom 2015, the mothers in the audience were taking down notes too. Though they were in the middle of a mall, in the midst of a variety of activities, these moms were focused on but one thought: What kind of children were they raising given their parenting style? Such a question of mindfulness certainly helped these moms gain a better perspective of where they are as parents and where they want to be.

As part of Expo Mom’s Mom Manifesto campaign, onstage activities included live interviews with moms on how they schedule their day and how their childhood experiences shaped their parenting styles as well as an enlightening talk on Self Care for Busy Moms by Michele S. Alignay, MA, Registered Guidance Counselor and Parenting, Relationship, and Family Life Specialist. Alignay is one of the creators of the Mom Manifesto campaign, along with Mommy Mundo Founder Janice Villanueva.

Chef Sau del Rosario celebrated his 20th year in the industry by sharing his passion for food with a stirring talk and a lively cooking demonstration, courtesy of Breakfast Magazine. The gracious chef also signed copies of his book, 20 Years of Love and Cooking.

Dr. Francis Dimalanta, a developmental pediatrician, shared the stage with mom chef Marga Marty, to discuss the Language of Food. Dr. Dimalanta underscored the significance of providing children with proper nutrition, giving a couple of ground rules at the dinner table while Chef Marga offered healthy options and solutions for mommies.

Cordlife Philippines emphasized the importance of cordblood banking while Johnson’s Baby shared baby bathing tips and techniques. Huggies Philippines not only came up with a Dry Pants Step Up Dance Contest, they also gave away product samples to lucky mommies.

Other highlights of Expo Mom weekend included fashion shows by Indigo Baby and P.S. By Aeropostale, a musical number from Jooma Jam, an arts and crafts workshop by Kids These Days Manila, and a cooking demonstration by Chef Michelle Adrillana of Flavors on Fire. A catering service company, Flavors on Fire takes pride in the quality and taste of its food, using only the finest ingredients. It offers a menu of international and Thai cuisine, but specializes in Filipino dishes with a distinctive twist.

Moms also found a great way to teach kindness to their children through Childhope Asia’s Kindness Campaign. In partnership with Mommy Mundo, Childhope Asia has made available Kindness Cans, which children can fill up to SAVE, SPEND, and SHARE. Childhope Asia offered ideas on how kids can share with other kids.
One hundred percent of the entrance fees to Expo Mom 2015 will go to MomShare’s partner beneficiary, Childhope Asia, to benefit literacy and health programs for street kids—and Expo Mom was able to raise P116,276.45 over the weekend, thanks to the generosity of its mommy participants!
