In Conscious Parenting’s December session, Kit encouraged parents to “drop the shoulds” or to be aware of what expectations we are placing on our children, and how these expectations might actually be what we had expected from our inner children or from our own parents when we were growing up. Yes, what we think should be isn’t necessarily what is healthiest or best for our children!

On November 11, 2020 a just-turned eight-year-old boy received the most unique present: a kettcar freshly clad in carefully constructed cardboard boxes to make it look like an F1 racing car. Not just any F1 racing car, but the 2014 Red Bull car driven by Sebastian Vettel. Maximilian Aurich Hupp was so overwhelmed, he closed his eyes, characteristic of some with Autism Spectrum Disorder. His mother, Filipina artist Pamela Gotangco Hupp also felt her heart swell. At last! A birthday present she was certain he loved.

Mommy Mundo heralds the season with ExpoMom 2020: Love & Light Mama!
On November 28-29, 2020, Mommy Mundo held its second online ExpoMom event of the year, titled ExpoMom2020: Love & Light, Mama! A response to the challenges brought about by 2020, the two-day event focused on self-love and self-care, encouraging moms (and dads) to return to their centre and find peace within themselves so that they may encourage and instill peace in their homes despite the uncertainties that continue to plague the world during this time.

Guest speaker and Montessori teacher, Ghia Curtis, talked about sensory development and how what babies learn is directly related to their senses and to honing those senses. A period of massive learning from sensory development and honing happens from the ages of zero to six.

Any parent with more than one child knows the ups and downs of sibling rivalry, sibling disagreements, and fights. Many of those who worry the most are the ones who had it the worst, those in constant power struggles with their siblings (some lasting well into adulthood).
