My Pandemic Pregnancy: The Best of Times Amid the Worst of Times

I found out I was pregnant in August 2020, about 5 months into the pandemic—brief enough to hope for better days ahead but long enough to know that I ought to manage my expectations. After all, we had been through enough permutations of the letters M, E, G, C and Q. All signs were pointing to a very bumpy road ahead (pun intended).

Self-care for New Moms in Quarantine

Self-care, like many good habits, is always easier said than done, but taking time for activities that nurture your emotional well-being and ease both your mental and physical stress is one of the most important things you can do for yourself.

Learning in the New Normal through the Eyes of Children

The new normal is a pivotal moment for children at home. How parents respond to the changes in their household will greatly affect their children’s lives forever. The prolonged home quarantine allowed parents and children to bond together, get to know more about each other, be involved in one another’s activities, and rediscover their relationship as they spend more time at home.

Expecting in the Unexpected: A Guide to Quarantine Babies

COVID-19 could verily be the most unexpected global issue of the past decade (definitely of 2020!) No one could have prepared for the entire world entering a quarantine, or as people come to have called it: a lockdown. But life has constantly proven to be able to surprise even after it has surprised as many mothers and mothers-to-be are now discovering.

PedTalk: Mental & Emotional Effects of Being on Quarantine

Undoubtedly, the rules of the quarantine are hard on everyone. Having to distance from loved ones, either because of geographic or age restrictions; becoming hyper aware of hygiene and disinfection practices; and the complete change of routine are issues that already challenge adults, what more children that may not fully understand that staying home means staying safe.

PedTalk: Will My Child Fall Behind in School Because of the Pandemic?

The second installment of Mommy Mundo’s PedTalk series, in coordination with Sanofi Pasteur and Huggies, aired on Facebook Live on May 30, 2020. The topic was: Will My Child Fall Behind in School Because of the Pandemic. Host, Camille Prats Yambao, and guest speaker, Dra. Jocelyn A. Eusebio, an expert on developmental concerns took the over 14,000 viewers through physical, educational, psychological, and emotional challenges children might be facing at this time.

Surviving COVID: Moms Who Fought & Won

Like many other grave ailments, the novel coronavirus, known as COVID-19, is a serious threat whose gravity is not felt until it hits home. It is very different to know the virus as a statistic on television or as the reason behind social restrictions and to know the virus as the silent thief that takes a relative or the reason why you couldn’t be there in their final moments. For three Mommy Mundo moms, the virus made itself known as closely as possible–as the reason why they were forced into isolation, into hospitals, and into the dreadful anxiety that leaves one wondering if they would be one of the ones to survive.

Homeschool: Should You or Shouldn’t You?

In the face of the COVID-19 pandemic more parents might want to do their research and seriously consider it. Many schools have been forced to transition to online learning in the past few months of the school year, and the upcoming school year is going to be conducted online for many students.
