Last January 27, Manila’s top preschools gathered under one roof for the Mommy Mundo Preschool Fair 2018. Dads, moms, and kids enjoyed navigating the interactive exhibits of different schools.
Kids had the chance to play, color, and have fun, while parents had the opportunity to talk to the school representatives.
The Preschool Fair created an atmosphere of energetic discussion that helped moms and dads choose the best school for their little ones.
One of the highlights of the day was the Preschool Fair program, featuring a lineup of speakers who gave insight on the child’s mind and how the right school will impact intellectual, emotional, and physical development.
A talk about neuro science breakthroughs in childhood education was given by Mindchamps International School. It was interesting to learn that in the first few years of life, more than one million new neural connections are formed in our kids’ brain every second. Your child’s school becomes the parents’ partner during the explosive, formative years.
David Esteban of the United Campus of Mahtma Gandhi & Austalian International School spoke about the factors to consider in choosing a school. He stressed that the vision of the school has to align with your own values and vision. The right school should make your kids feel safe, encourage them to have fun, and help them achieve a growth mindset. Once a student becomes successful in a facet of life, they’ll have what it takes to succeed in other aspects.
Singapore Math promotes flexible thinking on finding ways to solve mathematical problem. Julie Chandiramani of the International Center for Beginning Beginners gave an interesting discussion about Singapore Math. The heart of Singapore Math is in preparing competencies the future work force needs. It promotes critical and innovative thinking that help our kids develop skills that will help them succeed in life.
Dr. Robina Dy then took the stage to give insight on understanding the ABCs of child behavior. She spoke about looking deeper into the antecedents or triggers of behavior. You can control antecedents by giving reminders and rules that will help prevent negative behavior. Dr. Dy explained that by doing this, parents can control consequences to behavior through positive intervention.
One of the questions moms usually ask is how to prepare your child from preschool to big school. Teacher Gabby Roa Limjoco talked about school readiness and preparing your child to make that leap.
A parent from the Maria Montessori School then shared their own experiences on how the Montessori style of learning helps them get excited about learning.
To end the day’s program, kids quieted down with a story telling session by Clayton Learning Center. Their books of choice were “The Red Ripe Strawberry” and “The Big Hungry Bear”.
It seems the choice of books was perfect to the end of the day. The Mommy Mundo Preschool Fair left kids hungry to learn, and parents excited to finalize the preschool of their choice.
As an added perk, the first 200 Mommy Mundo passport holders also took home a La Filipiniana gift pack.
This was definitely one for the books! And we can’t wait to see you all next year at the Mommy Mundo Preschool Fair 2019!
