Moms are naturally nurturing, and over the years the moms of the Mommy Mundo community have taken this nurturing nature beyond their families, sharing and caring with the less fortunate while setting an example for the future generation.
In 2020, what was once a support initiative, Momshare officially became a non-profit corporation of Mommy Mundo. Through Momshare, Mommy Mundo is able to provide various avenues for moms in the Mommy Mundo community to give time and resources. Many of Momshare’s initiatives are funded by the proceeds generated from Mommy Mundo events, such as the entrance fees of its expo events, and activities, along with direct donations of cash and kind. Through the support and generosity of the Mommy Mundo community, MomShare has been able to make a difference in the lives of many moms and families in need.
MomShare helps in three ways: Literacy, Health, Outreach
LITERACY: Education is the single most powerful factor in the development of an individual and a nation. MomShare runs book and toy drive projects to help build libraries in different locations all over the country. It also spearheads school bag donation drives during the start of the school year.
HEALTH: MomShare raises funds to cover the medical expenses of kids and babies in desperate need of assistance. It has also supported vaccination drives by coordinating with local government units and its various sponsors.
OUTREACH: MomShare aims to be present when its support is needed the most–during times of need and special occasions. It leads outreach programs, usually around the holidays, to give joy to children in poor communities. It also pursues calamity relief projects when circumstances call for it.
Momshare Through the Years
2021
In 2021, Momshare worked in tandem with Founder’s Day, which raised Php150,000.00 for Project Pearls, which aims to adopt and help 50 fellow moms and families currently in need because they have been severely affected by the pandemic. Project Pearls was founded by another mom with a mission, Melissa Villa. Read more about Founder’s Day and how the fund raising project met its success!
2020
During the COVID-19 pandemic of 2020, Momshare busied itself with various partnerships. It sought the participation of 500 moms to reach out and encourage 500 moms in need, bringing forth the true spirit of mompowerment.
Mommy Mundo put together Mompwerment Kits, which contained Havaianas Slippers, bath soap, a toothbrush and toothpaste, a hand towel, shampoo, a pocket mirror, a comb, and biscuits. It will also contained a guide booklet on self-care, mindfulness, and conscious parenting. These Mompowerment Kits were distributed to the beneficiary moms throughout November 2020.
The kits were distributed to Childhope Asia Philippines, Save the Children, Happy Helpers, Mano Amiga and Project Pearls with the generosity of the following sponsors: Baby Dove, DSEP, Havaianas, Oh so Healthy, Smart Step, Bite block, Zenutrients, Cycles & Cradle, Tin Li of @wandermom.ph, and Noli Reyes.
Also in 2020, right after Typhoon Ulysses brought the worst flooding Metro Manila had seen since 2009’s Typhoon Ketsana, Momshare, through RockED Philippines, assisted those affected by the typhoon. The year also furthered the initiatives of the Mompowerment Project.
2015
In 2015, Mommy Mundo formed a partnership with Childhope Asia Philippines and The Kinder Project/Alpabasa in the hope of making a difference in the lives of children in poor communities.
Childhope Asia Philippines is a non-profit, non-government organization working to promote the welfare of street children. The funds raised through the Momshare partnership went to Childhope Asia’s operational costs and helped sustain their critical program support.
The Kinder Project/Alpabasa empowers public school teachers by giving them teacher training and teaching materials to boost the learning experience of their students, particularly in reading. Formed by a group of teachers and artists, they have created a unique, bilingual game-based program with teacher-created materials, flashcards, songs, books, and worksheets to energize the classroom learning experience.
