The moms of electric studio are a unique set. All of them had active childhoods, which gave them a love for movement and exercise. This love is their binding thread, and it is also what has made them ride through the longest quarantine in the world with effortless electric grace.
Anyone who’s tried it will tell you that an electric bike class is ADDICTING. The atmosphere, the energy, the endorphins that run through your body when you’re done aren’t like any other. It is so addicting that it pulls in men and women from all walks of life, creating a diverse and lively community unlike any other.

Among the members of this community are its teachers, many of whom are also mothers. Brought to the studio for different reasons–one wanted to shed baby weight, one wanted to expand her personal growth, another needed an outlet from med school (and yes she did become an instructor!)–the moms of Electric Studio all share a love for health and, as Marilen puts it, “the mind body connection.”
The pandemic has definitely been a challenge for the team since indoor physical activities were shut down and are still yet to be allowed in some parts of the country. With a little creativity and ingenuity, however, founder Kristina Sy was able to make a quarantine pivot and bring Electric Studio to the homes of her riders. Bike rentals, an online workout video library, and live online classes meant that their commitment to fitness and to the fitness of their students did not have to be on lockdown.

Though the energy levels are different online, the moms of Electric Studio all note that the energy is still there. Yes, teaching online does have unique challenges, such as not being able to correct your students, but the motivation and the smiles of the students keep their energy levels up as teachers, which, in turn, allows them to send it back to their students through the Zoom screen.
So contagious was the energy and passion of their classes that their community started to grow. Now, those who, in the past, may have been unable to join the classes due to schedule constraints can easily join online; those who used to be too shy to join also now also find courage through the screen; and those who are based in other countries but used to attend the classes in Manila can maintain their familiar workout routine and see friends!

Moms that Ride
It was this energy that brought Mommy Mundo and Electric Studio together in June for a special ride for the Mommy Mundo community. Electric Studio moms and Mommy Mundo momfluencers had a special Zoom session of cycling, fitness, and fun. Nicole de los Angeles, Bianca Reinoso, and Marie Field Faith are just three of the moms that rode their hearts out along with Mommy Mundo founder, Janice Villanueva, who joined the group all the way from her home in Canada.
As part of the ride, Electric Studio held a month-long contest for two lucky Mommy Mundo community members. Regina Jaen-Singian (@reginalynj) won an Electric Studio bag and Krys Salcedo-Policarpio (@krystel_lynne) won an Electric Studio bike for a free 14-day Electric at Home First Timer package!
A Lifestyle
For most moms, health and fitness is something that is taught by example and kept by habit. This is the same for the moms of Electric, who also recognise that it can take a lot of trial and error to find what fitness activity and routine works best for a person. Many of them not only teach cycling class, but they also teach other classes, such as HIIT, rhythm boxing, pilates, and yoga.

They find fulfillment in movement and in helping people feel better about themselves, both physically and emotionally, while also seeing their students grow in strength and ability. Plus, of course, the positive vibes! All the moms of Electric Studio gush over and are so proud of how “ELECTRIC VIBES DO NOT LIE!” For them teaching and fitness are not just passions that pay, but a way of life they wouldn’t trade for anything!
electric moms advice to moms seeking fitness

- Start slowly. Set realistic goals if you are goal oriented. Listen to your body. Learn to appreciate the progress that comes with little steps. Don’t compare yourself with others, but find inspiration in positive people. Make time for yourself. – Marilen
- My advice is to start trying out different things and don’t give up if they don’t like the first thing that they try. Keep trying until they find something that they truly enjoy. – Mel
- Just do it. There’s no better time to get back into it than now. Just show up. My family has always been my motivation. Be strong for them. – Cathy
- Show up for yourself everyday. You need to show up for yourself and commit to yourself because nobody else can do it for you. Exercising from home has become very accessible and convenient over the pandemic (thanks Electric!) Just start, and keep showing up. – Lexi
- Set a schedule and commit to it. I like zoom workouts because I feel like I am attending a class “physically” where I need to show up and have no excuse to miss it. You can also try different types of workout so you don’t feel bored with it. Electric Studio is great because there are so many different classes to choose from, it’s not just spinning. Even if you want to just spin, there are different types like a power hour (60 mins) class or a strength class with more weights and resistance. The key is to find something that you like! – Nat
