The #MomManifesto journey began last year when Mommy Mundo Founder Janice Villanueva saw the need for moms to live more mindfully. She says, “The reality is that moms lead very busy lives, and there is a great need to center ourselves, to make sure that we are living with purpose and not just ticking off items on our to do lists. We thought of creating a program which would equip moms with the tools to make them more mindful of their thoughts and more conscious of their action. At the end of the program, moms would be able to come up with their mission statement, their guide to leading more purposeful lives.”
Together with Registered Family Psychologist Michele S. Alignay, MA, and Mommy Mundo Content Head Jing Lejano, Villanueva created and conceptualized the #MomManifesto campaign. The resulting six-step online workshop explored the different areas of the everyday lives of moms. At the end of the five-week campaign, moms were able to formulate their mission statement, which they were encouraged to share online and at the campaign’s culminating event, Expo Mom 2015: Mom Manifesto. Expo Mom 2015 drew over 12,000 participants at Glorietta 2. It featured over 50 booths showcasing the best and latest in parenting, onstage representations of the online workshop, and a Mom Manifesto wall where moms posted their mission statements.
In 2016, Mommy Mundo took the campaign further by offering a real-time version of its #MomManifesto online workshop, the Mindful Mom Re-Treat. With Alignay leading the discussions and guiding participants through the different modules, moms would be able to uncover and discover their passion and purpose, helping them become more mindful persons and more intentional parents. Moms embraced the first re-treat which took place last January 30, 2016 wholeheartedly. They said it was just what they needed to make sense of their lives, and to be more excited about their purpose.
More than the recognition, Villanueva says, “As a parenting advocate and community builder for the past 16 years and a mom for the past 19 years, this is another validation of the importance of the role that we moms play and how, more and more, the value of nurturing the nurturers is being recognized.”
For Mommy Mundo, the journey has just began, and with this latest validation of its passion and purpose, it aspires to reach even greater heights in the hope of being of greater service to women who give of themselves so selflessly, our mothers.
The next Mindful Mom Re-Treat happens on May 28, 2016 at the Earth Kitchen in Bonifacio Global City. Click here for more information.
