A Fun-filled Summer at Expo Kid

expo-entrance.jpg

For three days, children and their parents had a great time discovering new things and planning the next few weeks of no school and plenty of sunshine at Expo Kid. A much-anticipated event participated in by activity providers and retailers, Expo Kid took place from April 4 to 6, 2014 at The Podium in Pasig City with on-stage workshops, games, and prizes.

Leading the learning sessions were Vanessa Bicoming of The Learning Library who shared hints on how parents can make reading a lasting habit for their children and Kat Ripoll, co-author of “Healthy Cooking for Happy Kids,” who talked about preparing nutritious meals for children. Speakers from Mathemagis, Brainfit Studio, and Galileo Learning Enrichment Program gave winning tips on academic success while the folks from Mad Science did a couple of experiments showing the fun side of science. Some of the kids got moving with Crossfit MNL and Gymboree’s rousing demonstrations as DMC sponsored a Create a Thread Accessory Contest.

Having these activity providers in one setting proved to be a blessing for parents. They didn’t have to spend hours on the Internet comparing which programs fit their kids best as they were able to ask the providers relevant questions right on the spot. Some providers even provided free trial classes, while others had on-the-spot sessions for kids to get a taste of their offering. Kids looking to improve their academic skills found plenty of opportunities to learn in a relaxed environment as enrichment programs were aplenty.

The Galileo Enrichment Learning Program promised Math and English sessions filled with fun and excitement for children ages 3 to 12. There is also Mathemagis, a Math enrichment program based on the globally acclaimed mathematics curriculum of Singapore. Targeted at kids 4 to 12 years old, it focuses on developing the learner’s problem-solving skills.

Parents whose kids found their Filipino subjects difficult were happy to discover the interactive programs of The Learning Library, some of which revolve around Florante at Laura and El Filibusterismo. The Learning Library also offers a Reading Safari for young students as well as public speaking workshops for older kids.

The children loved the instant experiments over at the Mad Science table. A global brand for dynamic science edutainment (educational entertainment), Mad Science offers various theme camps this summer, including one devoted to outer space and another to flying machines.

The teachers of BrainFit Studio were also on hand to talk to parents about the secrets of top student performers. The leading provider of neuroscience-based brain fitness programs in the Philippines, it originated in Singapore and has spread across Asia.

In between these academic programs are art classes and hobby-oriented workshops. Global Art showed kids exactly what they can do with their artistic talents as they put their students’ works on display. An internationally recognized program with branches in 18 countries, Global Art not only aims to improve your children’s skills in art, it also trains them to think creatively.

Kidz Art acknowledged a child’s need to express himself in different ways, and gives him an avenue to do so through art workshops facilitated in a friendly environment. There was a lovely gallery of the masterpieces of Kidz Art students for all to see and appreciate.

Party Painters engaged the kiddie guests at their booth, asking them to whip up their own artworks. Party Painters not only plan fun parties and events, they also host art workshops at Hobbes and Landes.

Gymboree Philippines set up a play area where little kids ran around and played. A global leader in early childhood development programs. Gymboree Play & Music fosters creativity and confidence in children through various programs in a safe and stimulating space.

While some of the guests participated in the on-stage demonstrations, others met with Expo Kid’s activity providers. A good number were also able to indulge in a bit of shopping as there were many specialty retailers on hand.

Ant’s Pocket offered eco-friendly, handmade plush toys, Paper Chic Studio spread out their craft supplies and party favors, while Bug & Kelly, Tiny Tots, and Frankikay’s Closet featured adorable children’s wear. All sorts of mommy solutions were to be found at Nurture Nook while Lassig Philippines offered substantial discounts on their selection. Other finds include cool toys from Fatty Brain, gadgets from Intelli Smart, Inc., craft supplies from DMC Philippines, and those colorful foam-sculpting materials called Fun Poly Dots. Glimmering Station gave the kiddie a touch of shine and shimmer at their tables.

Expo Kid proved to be another successful Mommy Mundo event as both kids and parents walked away happy and satisfied knowing that they’re in for a great summer!
