Families Down South Have Fun at Expo Mom

Folks living south of the metro experienced a refreshingly different kind of Sunday when Expo Mom took the stage at the Crimson Hotel in Filinvest City. Expo Mom is the pioneering purveyor of mom-oriented and family-friendly events. For the last eight years, it has been giving active and involved moms the lowdown on the the latest parenting trends, products, and services in fun, accessible venues. Crimson Hotel’s grand ballroom was transformed into a fun learning bazaar with onstage talks, on-the-floor demonstrations, and hand-on activities. As the little ones got busy with their artworks, their parents went around the different booths to shop for kiddie items or learn about breastfeeding and babywearing. Other parents listened to the on-stage talks which delved on topics closest to their hearts.

The program started off with an inspirational talk, encouraging moms to be the best versions of themselves, by actress and events host Issa Litton and facilitated by Marie France. It was followed by a wildly energetic storytelling performance by Make Believe Productions which had the kids and their parents laughing and applauding.

In the afternoon, there were learning sessions on swaddled bathing by Johnson’s Baby, proper nutrition by pediatrician Dr. Francis Dimalanta and chef Margarita Marty, babywearing 101 by Tiffany Tuazon of My Baby Dragon, breastfeeding by Certified Lactation Counselor and La Leche League Leader Abbie Yabot, everyday radiation and its health risks by Belly Armor, and proper breast milk storage by HoneySuckle. Games sponsored by Fern-C capped off the on-stage program.

On the floor, the ballroom was divided into different areas of interest, which featured mompreneurs only too willing to give their advice and insights to first-time parents. The areas include Attachment Parenting with booths dedicated to giving parents tips on babywearing, breastfeeding, and cloth diapering; Pregnancy where expectant moms found everything they needed to know and have to navigate those nine months with ease; Baby Care where moms and dads enjoyed scouring through the cutest of baby wear as well as the most essential of gears, gadgets, and skin care items; and Kids Stuff with educational toys, comfy clothes, and other kid care paraphernalia.

While moms and dads did a bit of shopping and a whole lot of learning, their children enjoyed the hours creating some wonderful works of art. Different activity providers were tapped by Expo Mom to give their kids a great time. Crafts and Party Bucket facilitated a Terracota Pot Painting activity where the kids painted their pots with colorful designs. Kids These Days MNL introduced the children to the wonderful world of clay art while Make My Day really got those little hands busy with sessions on origami, paper quilling, and sand art.
