Hello mommies and daddies! We know in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, we all have mostly been stuck indoors. Many of us have been experiencing cabin fever, and claustrophobia. This is why Mommy Mundo, together with BLIMS Fine Furniture decided to team up and host a Facebook Live to help give our community some tips and tricks on how to spruce up your space and celebrate the great indoors!
Last October 23, 2021, Mommy Mundo conducted a Facebook live featuring: interior designer, and mom of four, Gin Panlilio, and Eliza Santiago, Mommy Mundo’s Digital Head as the host. During the event, we showed a video wherein Gin visited BLIMS in Ortigas Home Depo to walk us through some vignettes which she herself arranged. Here are the vignettes that Gin showcased in the video:
Work From Home: Gin offers us two solutions to a modern day problem, home offices! Her first solution is for those who are spatially challenged, or for those who want to work around others. She set up an office that resembles a co-working space, wherein kids and adults can simultaneously work together in one table. This is very pragmatic as one can watch over the kids studying, playing, or eating while one works. The table is a classic white piece which comes with a surprise! The table can be unfolded and can be converted from a four seater to a six seater. She pairs this table with cushioned quilted chairs to make your long working/studying hours more pleasurable.
Gin’s second option for your WFH setup is a classic white office desk, with a modular cabinet behind for storage. She pairs the desk with a black office chair to provide contrast from the whites and the woods in the office. All the pieces she curated for this set are all functional, as you extend the desk as well! This space is perfect for those with long online meetings, or those who need a private space to work.
The Man Cave: For the daddies, time to share this to your partner! Turn that extra room into your own man cave! In this vignette, Gin shows us the man cave basics. A leatherette taupe sofa, dark and masculine fixtures, and a midcentury modern black table with wood accents. Her focus was on earthy, leather, and dark tones. She ties it all together with the wooden table, and an orange and green ottoman to add more character to the area, or to be a conversation piece. Gin says “Comfort and quality are very important, and BLIMS Furniture actually has this in their furniture pieces”. Gin also shows us an alternative to the taupe sofa. A classic black leather sofa, that is a very masculine piece, which reminds one of classic cars.
Open Concept Living Room – Dining Room Set-up: For this Vignette, the living room and dining rooms are connected to each other. Gin first shows us the living room, here Gin chose a 70s inspired L-shaped couch with contrasting and complimenting throw pillows to give it some personality. Gin chose a glass top coffee table with a very unique wooden base to accentuate the couch, again giving the room more personality. She ties the room together with an earth tone colored area rug to fit the 70’s inspired living room. Next Gin moves on to the dining room. Here Gin chooses a classic wooden dining table paired with modern white cushioned chairs. This gives the dining room a little bit of contrast and style. Gin says that you don’t actually have to get a dining set, but may opt to mix and match at BLIMS; Although you may opt to do so, having an option like that is nice. Gin then picks a wooden buffet table with drawers. She chose this piece not only to be a design element, but for storage purposes as well. Now you can esily reach for your tableware and store your china, all within the drawers beside your dining table.
Bonus! Family Bedroom: Surprise, Gin was not done! She showed us a bonus room, the family bedroom. Although she did not walk us through the specifics on why she styled the room this way, we love how she gave us a glimpse of how she would setup one up. In this room, she mixed both masculine and feminine features. On both sides of the bed, she placed two bedside tables with lamps. The main difference between the two sides however is that one side has a dark brown leather arm chair, and on the other is a cream colored couch with 2 smaller chairs and a marble top coffee table.
Those are all the vigenettes which she setup in the BLIMS show room. Let us know which one was your favorite: Work From Home, Man Cave, Living + Dining, or the bonus Family Bed Room. Becasue they were all so beautiful, we at Mommy Mundo could not just decide!
