Mom Spotlight: Kit

Kit Malvar Llamas is a familiar face to followers of Mommy Mundo. As our Community Program Director, we’ve seen her take us through the first steps of conscious parenting in the Mom School Series. She helped the moms in our community re-examine and evolve their parenting mindset. She allowed us to understand why we parent the way we do. We have also seen her in our Expo Mom events, often opening our events with wonderful food for thought, or participating in panels that ask hard questions on parenting, mindfulness, and self-care.

Last November, Kit, who founded Camp Explore and her husband, Inaki Llamas—a Daddy Mundo dad!—launched Conscious Alchemy (consciousalchemy.me). It is a facilitation and coaching academy that offers programs aimed to help kids, teens, professionals, leaders, and parents gain a deeper understanding of themselves. The goal is to help people become better versions of ourselves at every stage of our lives.

The story of Conscious Alchemy weaves through the different ages and stages in the lives of Kit before she met Inaki, her husband and as they built a life together.  They sought to answer questions they needed to answer for themselves, such as how best to enrich family and team relationships, how to improve as individuals while working and  improving together, and how to become better parents and build stronger connections. They sought understanding, and in seeking they found classes and programs, which inspired them to be certified, alchemize, and design a curriculum to guide their clients to live their unique purpose at home and at work.

It began with Camp Explore, a summer nature camp at Mount Puro Nature Reserve, which during the COVID-19 pandemic, turned into an online camp known as WeBeCamp. The camp caters to children 6 years-old and up, offering different activities geared towards guiding and molding the children to explore their minds, attune with their feelings, understand people and how to work with others, and ultimately think for themselves while knowing that they are always going to be on a journey of self-discovery and self-improvement. Not an easy order, but–as it turned out–a successful one!

Many of their Camp Explore kids went on to continue on to the C+Edge program, which is designed for those 21-and-up. Focusing on career and goal setting, on preparing for adulthood, relationships, and marital life (should they so choose).

Having worked with kids and young adults who grow to become young adults and adults, it was only natural that Kit expanded her offerings, slowly tackling parenthood even further. She became, and is, the first Filipino coach practicing with Dr Shefali Tsabary’s Coaching Institute’s Conscious Parenting method, a paradigm shift and  practice lauded by Oprah Winfrey.

As interest for Conscious Parenting grew, Kit began laying the groundwork for Conscious Alchemy, as her comprehensive hub that offers exclusive and innovative learning programs designed to address the specific needs of each individual.

Her launch event, held this past November 20, 2021, saw Dr Shefali Tsabary herself give a welcome message. Along with Dr. Tsabary, coaches from around the world spoke and the Filipino families they’ve been working with,  gave their support to what will undoubtedly be the most revolutionary method to ever hit the Filipino culture!

Every step of her motherhood and womanhood journey led her to this. She holds a degree in International Development from Cornell University with her focus on Youth Development and Environmental Sustainability. Apart from working with Dr. Tsabary, she is also a Gallup certified Strengths Coach, People Acuity Coach and Facilitator, and a certified facilitator of Dr. Covey’s program, 7 Habits for Highly Effective People. Truly, no one is more qualified to lead us into a journey of parenting, self-leadership, and healing, and we are excited to see what is to come!

We asked moms to share the most meaningful lessons We asked moms to share the most meaningful lessons they’ve learned from their kids — and the answers are as heartfelt as they are powerful. 💖

From learning patience (again and again), to letting go of worry and not sweating the small stuff… to being inspired to keep growing and learning — our children shape us just as much as we shape them. 🥹✨

These reflections come from the inspiring moms featured in MOMentous — Mommy Mundo’s Portraits and Profiles exhibit at Expo Mom, which celebrates stories of purpose, strength, and presence in the motherhood journey. ✨

What has your child taught you lately? 💭
