Moms live incredibly busy lives. They are the silent CEOs behind every family. Many moms juggle their jobs, school matters like enrolment, PTA meetings, and the never-ending reply slips; activities like their kids’ hobbies, playdates, and family get togethers; managing the household by doing groceries, making menus, making sure the house is clean, and being HR director to the staff (if help has been hired). With so many things going on, it isn’t a wonder that many moms find they have little brain space or time for self-care.
Not finding time for one’s self can often lead to burn out. It really does affect health and wellness. In the midst of the busyness of life, mindfulness is needed more than ever. Here are five easy ways to bring it back to center get that much needed woosah:
1) Create Rituals
One of the best mindfulness techniques is to create rituals that can be followed daily. It often help mom wellness if the ritual can be done in quiet solitude. Making a cup of tea and enjoying it in the morning or evening, going for a morning walk, finding a moment to meditate before beginning the day, are all worthy rituals to cultivate. After following any simple ritual for 21 days, moms often find a greater sense of calm that comes from having a healthy mind.
2) Have Your Own Space
No matter how small the home is, find your own space. It can be a room, a corner, but it must be a place you have designed or styled for yourself. Having a little corner of your own where you can sit and think or take a breather is one of the keys to mom wellness.
3) Start a Hobby or Pick Up an Old One
If possible, start up a hobby in that personal space, or take up an old one! It is ideal that it be a relaxing hobby. Some moms like crosswords, some moms like reading, others prefer crochet or knitting, and others still do jigsaw puzzles.
4) Order a Massage
One of the perks of living in the city is the easy access to home-massage services. It is amazing what an hour or an hour and a half massage can do for one’s well-being.
